This plush re-edition is a tribute to the 1972 Games held in Munich.

Waldi”, the first official mascot to appear, for the 1972 Munich Games, was a dachshund. He was modelled on Cherie von Birkenhof, a real longhaired dachshund. While Waldi was the first official Olympic mascot, he had been preceded by the unofficial “Schuss”, who had appeared four years earlier in Grenoble.

Waldi’s head and tail are light blue, and his body has vertical stripes in most of the five Olympic colours. Waldi was produced in various forms and sizes: soft toys, plastic figurines, stickers, posters and buttons - but not as a lapel pin until many years later.

Size: height 20cm / length 30cm
